No, you'll wanna get USED to the (unflavored)Kefir...an AMAZING drink. Just use a little less, if you want

I didn't have celery, mint, or chia seeds; I increased the spinach and arugula instead, and used 1 tablespoon almonds. And I doubled the banana and honey. The smoothie was fresh-tasting, delicious, and filling. I'll be making this often.

I used kefir in this. It seemed a bit too tart for my taste. Next time I'll double the honey.

Hank

Very good, very nutritious, and tasty. We doubled the recipe, enough for the three of us. Now I realize I left out the frozen banana, I will try to add this the next time.

Nadine

nice flavor, I used dates instead of honey and found that it can use more ginger and mint.

I had doubts before I tried it, but this is my new favorite smoothie. No arugula so I doubled the spinach, and subbed a peeled slice of lemon for the juice. Used kefir. The result was light, refreshing and flavorful, not too sweet. Nicely balanced.

I've made this several times now. I've shared it with family members who are very picky about smoothie flavors. Everyone agrees that this is a fresh and satisfying flavor and texture. It is a great way to use up celery and celery leaves too. I've only occasionally had mint leaves but basil leaves work. For me, the mix of greens, the fiber and flavor of celery, plus the pear and ginger make this stand out.

This was delicious and enjoyed the mint & ginger! We didn't have the celery or chia seeds but otherwise all other ingredients went in the Ninja. Fresh banana rather than frozen, used 1 tsp ginger paste from a tube and 1-2 Tbsp of water instead of ice cubes for consistency. Great balance of flavors. Thanks for recipe.

This tastes amazing but: WARNING: If you’re blender is not state of the art, DO NOT MAKE THIS WITHOUT A LIQUID. At worst, you’ll burn out your blender (which I did not do). Took me fifteen minutes of stirring and mashing to get the blender to even start blending. If you don’t have kefir, substitute at least half a cup of yogurt for milk, or alternative milk.

Delicious. I was hoping for ginger kick that was stronger. Added more ginger, mint and lemon juice as it seemed a bit bland greens as directed w/NF greek yogurt. Made multiple batches to use up all the greens and ripe fruit. Froze it all in Mason jars and happily enjoy it, at will. Definitely cut up peeled ripe bananas before freezing, pears too, makes it easier to throw together.

Soooo good. Very fresh. I make sure the banana is frozen in coins before I use so the drink turns out icier.. Sometimes I freeze the pear in chunks for the same reason. I've made with greek non fat yogurt and kefir but prefer the taste of the kefir plus it adds a little more liquid to the base so it blends more easily. Yum!

One of my favorite summer smoothie recipes. It is very forgiving and tastes great even with various additions or subtractions depending on what you have on hand that day. Have found that it tastes best to me when I skip the arugula as it can be overpowering, but otherwise really tasty and refreshing.

Pat

Delicious smoothie! I double the spinach, arugula and banana and don’t use chia seeds because I don’t have them and they are very expensive. The ginger really makes it a smoothie!

This was my second try, and tastier than the first, probably due to better ingredients this time. I converted the smoothie to vegan using agave instead of honey and non-dairy yogurt I had made with a mixture of oat & soy milks. Other substitutions & variations: very ripe Bosc pear; kale instead of arugula, which I did not have; less than a teaspoon of mint leaves--the tail end of my supply; 1 whole banana, and Meyer lemon juice, which added great flavor and I enthusiastically recommend.

My mistake. I've made this smoothie thrice: better each time.

Substituted unsweetened vanilla almond milk for kefir. Used baby kale instead of arugula & spinach. Added protein powder. Great!

Pat

Very tasty - had all the ingredients but the chia seeds. Ginger makes it especially refreshing.

Fantastic!!! I was going to pass on this because I honestly thought it sounded gross. Thankfully, I didn't. I now make this every morning! However, I don't actually use arugula and spinach. Arugula is a bit pungent for my taste. I use milder greens (beet, carrot, kale, etc.)

Second try far better than first. I was attracted to MRS's "clean out refrigerator" idea, so used 2 ancient (but not rotten) pears and threw in a few frozen red grapes. Used maple syrup as sweetener. This time I had lemon juice and spinach (but no mint) on hand, and they added flavor, as did extra (about 1 cup) celery. I don't know what a quarter-size slice of ginger means, but I used about an inch-long piece and it seemed just right. Outstanding result this time.
