Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe (1)

I looooove Banana Bread, always have always will. We make a lot of varieties but basic and chocolate chip have always been my favorites. You really just can’t go wrong with a classic.

This Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe has been a favorite in my family for many years, the chocolate mixed with the banana flavor really is just a step above.

I love chocolate in pretty much anything so the addition of chocolate chips to my favorite recipe was a no-brainer and we have loved it ever since, there is no turning back from this recipe.

We like to use mini chocolate chips in here because we do not want to overpower the bread at all and I feel like it gives a better distribution of the chocolate throughout the bread itself.

Trust me when I say that when you cut yourself a slice of this bread, you will be hooked and you will want to keep making it over and over again!

HOW TO MAKE A CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD RECIPE:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray a 9×5 loaf pan with baking spray, set aside. Toss the chocolate chips with 1 tablespoon of the flour in a small bowl, set aside.
  2. In a large bowl stir together the remaining flour, baking soda, and salt, set aside.
  3. Cream together the brown sugar and butter for about 3 minutes in a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, until light and fluffy. Add in the eggs one at a time, beating them into the mixture before adding the next. Add the sour cream, bananas, and vanilla, mix until combined.
  4. Using a large spoon slowly mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, stir until no flour pockets remain but do not over mix. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the batter into the prepared loaf plan. Sprinkle some more chocolate chips on top for a pretty presentation. Bake for 60-65 minutes, loosely covering the bread at the 30-minute mark with foil. This will make sure the bread doesn’t get too dark. Bread is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Take the bread out of the oven and let cool for 10 minutes on a wire rack in the pan. Remove the bread from the pan and let cool, slice, and serve warm or at room temperature.

WHAT KIND OF BANANAS ARE BEST?

For this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread Recipe, you will want to use ripe bananas, they contain more sugar which gives them more of that potent banana flavor in banana bread recipes.

A banana can never be too ripe unless of course it does start molding or is having fruit flies, etc. Otherwise the riper the banana the better in a bread recipe.

WHAT KIND OF CHOCOLATE SHOULD I USE?

We like to use mini semi-sweet chocolate chips for this. We love the flavor it gives the banana bread itself. You can however use whatever your favorite chocolate is.

You can use dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chocolate chunks, etc. It really is a flavor preference. We like to use mini as I said earlier it gives a nice even spread though the bread itself.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container on the countertop for up to 4 days.

This can also be frozen, bake according to directions and let cool fully. We then wrap the bread in plastic wrap and then foil and place it in the freezer.

This will keep in the freezer for up to 4 months. To defrost, remove to countertop until thawed.
